MARINE REFRIGERATION

Cold that holds, from galley to cellar

Provisions, a proper freezer, ice on demand, wine held at temperature: refrigeration is the quiet backbone of life aboard. We keep it running, serviced at the vessel’s slip at Seattle marinas.

Yacht galley with provisioning refrigeration and ice machine
In short

Steadfast Marine Systems services marine refrigeration dockside at Seattle marinas: galley refrigeration, freezers, ice machines, wine storage, and holding plates. Refrigerant handling is performed under EPA Section 608 certification. We serve yachts from 52 to 200 feet at Lake Union, Westlake, Eastlake, Elliott Bay, and Shilshole Bay, at the vessel’s slip.

Scope of work

What we keep cold

GALLEY

Galley refrigeration

Reach-ins, drawer units, and under-counter boxes the galley depends on every day. We keep them at temperature, and we keep them quiet.

FREEZERS

Freezers

Chest and upright freezers, provisioned for long stays aboard. When a freezer drifts, the clock is running, and we treat it that way.

ICE

Ice machines

Marine ice machines are demanding: supply, pump, and production all have to agree. We service the machine and its plumbing as one system.

WINE

Wine storage

Wine asks for stability more than cold: a narrow temperature band, low vibration, quiet operation. We service cellar units to hold that band without drama.

HOLDING PLATES

Holding plates

Eutectic plates that carry the box between compressor cycles. We service the plates, the charge, and the cycle timing that makes them efficient.

REFITS

System refits

Aging boxes rebuilt or replaced, with refrigerant work handled under EPA Section 608. We recover, never vent, and the new system is verified before we sign it off.

For the captain and engineer
  • Refrigerant recovery, charging, and leak repair are performed under EPA Section 608 certification, with weights and pressures logged.
  • We diagnose from data: box temperature, pull-down time, compressor amperage, and system pressures, recorded before and after service.
  • You receive a written record of readings and work performed, fit for the vessel’s maintenance log and the next engineer.
  • In the galley we contain the work area, keep disruption short, and coordinate with the crew’s day; work aboard stays private.
How we work

Measured. Documented. Stood behind.

I

Assess at the slip

We meet the vessel at her slip and measure before we open anything: box temperatures, pressures, amperage. The finding comes with a plan and a clear scope.

II

Service and verify

Repairs are made aboard and the system is verified by pull-down, not by feel. A box that reads right and holds is the standard.

III

Document and stand behind it

The visit closes with a written record of what was measured, done, and fitted. If the box does not hold, we come back.

Questions

Questions, answered

What does EPA Section 608 certification mean for my vessel?
Section 608 is the federal certification required to handle refrigerants. It means refrigerant aboard your vessel is recovered and charged properly, never vented, and the work is documented. It is a legal requirement for this work, and we hold it.
Can you repair refrigeration at the slip, or does the boat need to move?
At the slip. We bring service equipment to the dock at Seattle marinas including Lake Union, Westlake, Eastlake, Elliott Bay, and Shilshole Bay. Most refrigeration work needs no haul-out and no relocation.
Do you service ice machines and wine storage?
Yes. Ice machines are serviced together with their water supply and drains, since that is where most trouble starts. Wine storage is serviced for stability: temperature band, vibration, and noise.
Our refrigeration is original to the boat. Repair or refit?
We measure first. If the boxes still pull down and hold on a reasonable compressor cycle, repair is often the right answer. When capacity, refrigerant type, or reliability argue for replacement, we say so plainly and plan the refit around your schedule.
